Situated near the village of Cassaigne in the Gers, 7km from Condom, Domaine de Cassaigne is characterised by its limestone plain (known as a limestone outcrop), a soil type particularly well-adapted to the production of fine red wines.
Domaine de Cassaigne Red is a blend of two grape varieties.
Merlot, which brings structure and persistence on the palate.
Syrah, which gives the wine its velvety texture and lovely spicy notes.
With yields limited to 50 hl/hectare, Domaine de Cassaigne adheres to production regulations set for the Fine Wines category of Côtes de Gascogne.
Following vinification, the oenologists carry out a blind tasting to decide which lots (approx. 30% of the production) will be oak-aged; the remaining lots are matured in tank in order to preserve the notes of fruit.
A beautiful, deep-purple colour.
Complex aromas of black fruits, cinnamon and vanilla on the nose. Notes of spice; silky tannins and persistence in the mouth.
Domaine de Cassaigne Red would go elegantly with rib of beef, tournedos of duck with cep, grilled lamb chops or with a dry Pyrenean cheese...
